You may find it hard to believe, but one thing many of my male clients ask me about is body-hair removal. Generally, in the male mind, depilation is best reserved for women, professional cyclists, swimmers and drag queens. Even in the playground, the first signs of body hair are the making of a man among his peers. However, think of unquestionably too-furry men such as Burt Reynolds and David Hasselhoff, and no more needs to be said.

How much hair is too much? Well, things are starting to change. How often nowadays do you see a hairy Premiership footballer? There are even several noticeably smooth rugby players. The Daniel Craig version of James Bond is markedly less hairy than the Sean Connery one. Being groomed is now far more acceptable, and fuzz removal for men is something women seem to be embracing. Pubic hair removal has been the least discussed topics in the hair removal arena. With the latest trend of being hairless removal of pubic hair has found its new meaning.

Pubic hair has suddenly started loosing its privacy. With the introduction of latest products and the trend to remain hairless being the key, women of today are on the look out for products that can make them get rid of pubic hair. If you form part of the lot and want to join the new hairless brigade, you need not feel embarrassed. Instead, opt for one of the hair removal methods that suit you and just go for it.

Hair removal from the genital area is relatively new to modern Western Culture. In Australia, the practice of waxing or shaving the pubic area did not become common until the 1990s. In a study carried out by Basow and Braman, a large number of participants, who were randomly assigned to watch a video-recording of the same bikini-clad woman either with or without visible body hair, judged the woman as less attractive, intelligent, sociable, happy, and positive when hairy than when hairless.

The introduction of Brazilian wax brought a revolution in pubic hair removal. The Brazilian wax originated in Brazil for women wanting to wear the then-new thong bikinis. The ‘Brazilian- involves removing pubic hair from the mons pubis, labia and the Bikini line. Some hair may be left on the mons pubis depending on individual patient preference. Getting a ‘Brazilian- was popularized on shows such as Sex and the City and within the past three years is as commonly advertised by beauty therapists and medical laser hair removal clinics as compared to other more traditional beauty and cosmetic treatments. The number of men electing to get cosmetic surgery increased by 44 percent from 2000 to 2005. Many reported they saw a big difference in their wives’ appearances, and then decided to get surgery themselves. Botox – 313,519 men elected this non-surgical procedure in 2005, a 233-percent increase from 2000. The average price in the United States for this procedure is $363.

Maybe it started after Shah Rukh Khan created a storm in a bathtub. Or maybe David Beckham and his love for sarongs were to be blamed. And if these two don’t sound good enough to you, you can always accuse the media of creating issues where there was none. Say what you will but metrosexuality was a revolution . And it was a revolution whose reigning colour was pink, smelt of woody, spicy and citrusy fragrances, and the scene of battle was a salon where women would give the men getting a pedicure a derisive look and move over to the article they were reading .

The True North may be even more “free” than our national anthem implies, if a new list of the world’s best clothing-optional beaches is any indication.

According to the countdown, commissioned by USA Today and compiled by the American Association for Nude Recreation, Canada is one of the Top 10 greatest places to “leave the swimsuit at home.”

Vancouver’s Wreck Beach, this country’s first and largest legal clothing-optional beach, won Canada a spot on the list alongside such famed locales as France’s Cap d’Agde, also known as “the naked city;” the Caribbean’s postcard-pretty Orient Bay in the Virgin Islands; Florida’s Haulover Beach, which attracts a million visitors — clothed and unclothed — to Miami every year; and Little Beach, a Hawaiian hotspot where sun worshippers prefer birthday suits to grass skirts.
